Crucified Santa

That time of year again

It's become a tradition for me of some years standing, that instead of Christmas cards, I send people I know a mix disc every December. While usually several the selections chosen make some concession to Christian, Christmas, or at least wintry themes, the intent seems as much to give people a respite from That Sort of Thing while feigning observance.

This is what's on this year's disc:
1. Steve Gustafson - Basse Danse
2. Siouxsie and the Banshees - Israel (John Peel live version)
3. Beth Orton - She Cries Your Name
4. Pierre Attaignant / Boston Camerata - Bransle de Poictou
5. The March Violets - Snake Dance (extended version)
6. Hart & Prior - Fiddler's Green
7. Iggy Pop - Funtime
8. The Fugs - The Swinburne Stomp
9. The Arrogant Worms - Dad Threw Up on Christmas Day
10. The Electric Prunes - Kyrie Eleison
11. Johnny Cash - I've Been Everywhere
12. Spinal Tap - Stonehenge
12a. Nico - Henry Hudson
14. Three Blind Boys of Alabama - Down In the Hole
15. Negativland - The Star Spangled Banner
16. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Weapon of Choice
17. The Tubes - What Do You Want from Life?
18. Show of Hands - Roots
19. The Sandpipers - Kumbaya
20. The Handsome Family - Your Great Journey
21. Steve Gustafson - Divisions on "Mariam matrem virginem attollite"

Thanks to cavalorn for prompting me to look up Show of Hands.

You read our minds.

We've been working on our two discs since July, and they are just about ready. This year, people are going to actually get their discs before eXXmas instead of in February of next year.
