A judgment from the Lord

Ineffable, poetic beauty, in a place no one would imagine finding it. It's like Disneyland fifteen years after the end of the world.

Take a look at the ruins of Heritage USA, the Christian theme park built by Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker.

In 1989, that hotel must have been one of the last buildings ever built in the haute-moderne rectangular style: a columbarium, a cubicle fortress. These buildings are not attractive in decline. But the best part of it has to be the pastel on grey fake stone of the "King's Castle," a part of which has apparently fallen to rubble already.

Proof, if you need proof, that there is a just God in Heaven.

Seen the Chernobyl diary circulating recently? Sealed off just like that!
This brought back some memories - My parents were contributors to the PTL thing, and I went down there several years running on vacation (The last time was after Main Street was finished, but before the 'kingdom' fascade was built.

Bakker was goofy, and incomeptent, and a crook, but I don't think he was evil - I think the truly evil televangelist is still around.
