Broccoli

D'ye ever think of some of the weird chemicals that might be in broccoli? Broccoli contains stuff like erucic acid, indole-3-carbinol, glucoraphanin, and selenium. Is the research done that extracts purified doses of this stuff from broccoli, shoots it into rats, and sees what it does to their innards? Of course not; broccoli is "good for you" and the question is not asked. Its biochemistry is presumed benign.

Which isn't to say you shouldn't eat broccoli. On the other hand, there's a reason why the smell of the stuff baking or boiling is not appetizing. But everything else you could eat is like that. We have very few inorganic foods. Everything you put in your mouth has a complicated biochemistry. It's going to be easy to sell anything as scary; it's entirely a matter of political will.

veggies

I like eating raw vegetables, since after broiling or microwaving, it loses nutrients.
The pesticides are dangerous, because it becomes double metabilized in animals which we also eat. . .

not to mention

the fact that some farmers feed the animals gowth hormones as well
