I tossed a shoe into the air. . . .

Finding a page with potential on Wikipedia: Votes for Deletion, I have recently written about shoe flinging, which is as good a name as any for the practice of tying together your shoes by their laces and tossing them to become tangled on utility wires.

This seems to be ubiquitous in the USA, and to also occur in Canada and Australia.

To those to whom these presents shall come, I would ask if you have seen this going on in your locality, especially if it han't yet been mentioned; and what your local explanation is about the meaning of the ritual.

Oh, well done!

Now, of course, we need illustrations. And probably an AVI.
Mostly in our town this occurs on one particular street. I've seen it for years. Have not seen it recently however. I wonder if a city ordinance has prevented it. I hope not. If I see it again I will photograph it.
