Mênin aeide thea, Pêlêïadeô Achilêos oulomenên. . .

I watched maybe fifteen minutes of the Hyper Bowl. The only ads that I saw and remembered --- well, I did rather like the one about the ass that wanted to become a Clydesdale.

But I did in fact enjoy and am now looking forward to the movie Troy! A sword and sandal epic, and I see Orlando Bloom is in it.

Now if you were casting a Trojan War movie, who would you have Orlando Bloom play? Of course, I figured he'd be Achilles. Achilles is supposed to look like a girl. He gets away with posing as one for several months, until Odysseus tricks him out of hiding.

But no --- Orlando Bloom is Paris. Brad Pitt is Achilles. This seems a misjudgment. And in any case, none of these guys are supposed to be blonds.

In any case, I hope they have some fun with it, and turn it into something more entertaining than Gladiator, which was entirely too stodgy a picture for my taste, even if the soundtrack was pretty good.

Brad Armpit is in this movie? As Achilles?

Ew.

Re:

Aw c'mon, nobody calls to mind the glory of Greece and the grandeur of Rome like Brad Pitt. . . . .

At least Russell Crowe isn't in it. We do get a blond Achilles:

With casting like this, they'd bloody better make the spoken lines out of synch with the moving mouths. . . .
