The Cuzco School

During the sixteenth through the eighteenth centuries, mostly anonymous Native American artists from South America, schooled in the art of oil painting by the Roman Catholic Church, produced some amazing images that came to be known as the Cuzco School. They painted religious subjects almost exclusively. I find these deliciously surreal.
