If the South had won....

If the South had won the war, Central America would begin on the banks of the Ohio; but at least we'd be rid of 'em.

A republic where the boon for which our fathers bled was the right to secede would be the source of endless amusement to folks who didn't have to live there. Eminences like Huey P. Long and Orval Faubus would be even more interesting if they had the power to put their faces on currency, erect equestrian statues of themselves, build palaces, issue postage stamps, and command navies. It's almost a tragedy that history denied us these entertainments.

Think of those balls you'll have!

I'd love to see Huey Long on a $50 bill!
